Privacy statement

Last updated 20 September 2026.

This is a translation of the Dutch privacyverklaring, provided for convenience. In case of any discrepancy, the Dutch text prevails.

This statement covers two things you should keep apart: the application you run on your own computer, and this website. With the first, next to nothing happens. With the second, not much either.

The application

CourtMerge makes no network connection whatsoever. Your exhibits are read, merged, labelled and compressed on your own computer. There is no account, no activation server, no cloud and no telemetry. Nothing is sent to an AI service either.

The application does store settings on your own computer, in %APPDATA%\CourtMerge\settings.json: your theme, your language, the case folder last used, the party names and your label template. That file stays on your computer and is not sent anywhere. You can simply delete it; the application then starts again with the default settings.

The source files in your case folder are only read. They are never overwritten, moved or deleted. The bundle and the intermediate files go into the output folder you choose yourself.

This website

Since 20 September 2026, every page loads an advertising measurement script from Google (Google Ads conversion tracking, "gtag.js"). That script sets a cookie and tells Google whether a visit through one of our ads leads to a visit or an order. No fonts come from an external domain, and there is no other analytics or advertising script than this one.

Beyond that, every page carries two small scripts, and both come from this server. On the landing page, the first starts the screen recording muted, on a wide screen with a mouse, once you scroll to it; with javascript off, the recording still plays from its button. The second remembers your choice of a light or dark theme in your own browser's localStorage, so the theme toggle shows your preference on your next visit — that is not a cookie and never leaves your browser. Neither reads anything about you, tracks you, or sends anything to another server.

What does happen, and happens with every website: the web server keeps ordinary access logs. Those contain your IP address, the time, the page you requested and your browser type. Those logs run on the web host's infrastructure, serve to keep the site working and to establish abuse, and are not used to track or profile visitors or to link them to who buys.

When you order

When you order a licence, the order form goes straight to a handler on this site, which forwards the order by email. No payment partner sits in between seeing it along the way: Joachim Ally is the data controller for this data himself.

We collect what is needed to invoice and deliver your licence: your name, your email address, and — depending on how you order — your firm's name and company number (business) or your address (private individual), plus whatever you put in the comments field. That happens on the basis of the contract your order creates, and for the invoicing data also on the basis of the statutory accounting obligation. We keep that data for 7 years, the period accounting law sets for invoicing data.

The order touches three places, and that is also the complete list:

Nothing goes anywhere beyond that. Your data is not resold and not used for advertising.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask which data is held about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted — including your order data. One email is enough: joachimally@gmail.com.
